YouTube Transcript Chrome Extension
Extract YouTube transcripts from the video page, then continue in the web app when you need summaries, SRT subtitles, translation, or a larger workspace.
Extract on YouTube
Open the sidebar directly on a YouTube watch page and extract public captions without switching tabs first.
Continue in the web app
Send the current video URL to YouTubeToTranscript.org for summaries, SRT subtitles, translation, and longer reading.
Use practical formats
Copy the transcript, download text, or use the web app when you need SRT output for subtitle editing workflows.
How to use it
- 1
Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- 2
Open a YouTube video that has public captions or subtitles.
- 3
Use the sidebar to extract the transcript, copy it, download it, or open the video in the web app.
Privacy and limits
The extension is designed for YouTube transcript workflows. It reads the current YouTube video URL so it can request public caption data from the transcript service.
It does not bypass videos without available captions. When captions are missing, use a different video with public subtitles or try the web app for the same caption-based workflow.
For long reading, summarizing, or SRT-specific work, open the same video in the web app so the URL is prefilled automatically.
Try the Web App Version
Paste a YouTube URL here or open this page from the extension. The URL field will be filled automatically when the extension passes the current video.
